Climate Pros SD matches Escondido homeowners with licensed HVAC companies for HVAC maintenance. We do not sell a branded 21-point plan, a $39 special, or a twice-a-year rule for every valley house.

NWS describes warmer summer days in nearby valleys than at the coast. Escondido condensers often run harder than coastal Carlsbad. That is a reason to insist on measurements. It is not a reason for this brand to invent a “$99 visit versus $1,500 August repair” table.

What should a written spring visit include?

Ask the assigned company to confirm, in writing, what they will do on this outdoor unit and this air handler or furnace. A useful list looks like this. Their own form may use different numbering.

  1. Filter: size, condition, next change interval for this house (pets and dust change it).
  2. Return and supply static, or a clear statement they did not measure it.
  3. Condenser coil: rinse without folding fins, and whether they used a coil cleaner.
  4. Evaporator coil access and condition, or a note that they could not see it.
  5. Condensate pan, trap, and float switch.
  6. Electrical: lugs, disconnect, contactor face.
  7. Capacitor: rated versus measured microfarads.
  8. Fan motor amp draw versus nameplate.
  9. Compressor amp draw and start behavior.
  10. Refrigerant: type, and whether they used gauges or only temperatures. R-22 production and import banned since January 1, 2020; recycled or previously produced R-22 may still service existing machines.
  11. Superheat or subcooling as applicable to the metering device.
  12. Temperature split across the coil.
  13. Outdoor clearances and airflow around the cabinet.
  14. Line-set insulation and UV damage.
  15. Thermostat operation in cool, including staging if the equipment has it.
  16. Heat mode or strip heat, if the machine has it, even on a “cooling” visit.
  17. Safety switches and drain overflow.
  18. Visible duct connections at the air handler.
  19. A list of defects, not a verbal “looks fine.”
  20. Whether a repair, if found, has a separate diagnostic that applies toward the work.
  21. Who pulls any permit if they open a sealed system beyond the visit’s scope.

A visual glance sold as maintenance is a sales call pattern. Climate Pros SD does not publish a fair tune-up price.

Escondido-specific asks

Agricultural and roadside dust loads outdoor coils. Capacitors age faster when outdoor temperature and runtime are high. Ask for the microfarad numbers on the report, not a thumbs-up.

We do not tell you to “book by mid-April or slots disappear.” The matched company states their calendar. We do not promise same-week arrival.

FAQs

How much is an Escondido AC tune-up?

The company quotes it. This brand does not.

Is a $39 special real maintenance?

Often it is a walk-around. Ask for the 21 measurements above.
