Climate Pros SD matches licensed HVAC companies. We do not install heat pumps or publish adoption statistics.
A heat pump is an air conditioner that can run in reverse. In summer it pulls heat out of the house and dumps it outside. In winter it pulls heat from outdoor air and moves it inside. Same outdoor unit, two jobs. It is not a furnace. It does not burn gas unless you add a separate backup or a dual-fuel layout.
NWS describes mild coastal winters versus warmer inland summer afternoons. Mild outdoor air is easier for a heat pump than a deep freeze. Mountain nights can still need a cold-climate model or dual-fuel. That is a load-calculation call, not a county-wide “never works hard” promise.
A 2026 install does not get Section 25C. TECH single-family HVAC reservations stopped November 14, 2025. HEEHRA single-family was fully reserved February 24, 2026. Confirm live SDG&E offers at sdge.com/rebates. Golden State retail offerings on that captured page have ended. Do not stack TECH and HEEHRA on the same project as of July 15, 2025.
